Fiji & Japan
June 30th, 2006
I so desperately want to travel to both Fiji and Japan. The wedding as I mentioned in the previous post is being held in Fiji in November of this year. So I may miss the wedding, but I’d like to meet Rob there and have a little holiday for about 5-7 days. I need a break! The last holiday I went on was to Australia in 2004. We’re now in 2006 and I haven’t even been as far away as the South Island!! So I’m thinking I really need a trip. I know I’m only 22 and I have years ahead of me - but stuff it, I want the excitement now!!
A group of friends of mine have also discussed going to Japan in June 2007. It will be the mid-semester break at Uni so I can go! The only issue is that it’s going to cost NZD$3,500. But I feel this is a once in a life time oppourtunity, as my friend Sarina is Japanese and she can translate for us! Another friend, Jo, and her partner Max are wanting to go too! I have invited Rob along as I think we’d have so much fun; going to Tokyo and some other places I can’t remember and going to Disneyland there! AHHH would be so much fun and we’d never forget it.
So yes.. I’m now being skint. I buy way too much shit that I don’t need. It’s just extras and they’re a waste of money. I have just under a year to save for Japan. If I work at it hard I think I can do it. Just means less splashing money around and going out. It’ll be worth it though. ![]()
Feckin’ bad news!

You know that wedding I’ve been looking forward to for about a year, in Fiji?
Well it’s on November 8th. I have an exam for Uni on November 8th and 9th. So I’m going to miss it. :depressed:
I’m still deciding if I want to go long after my exams. I’d love a holiday - but being a Uni student makes money tight.
Have to wait and see how it goes I guess.
Gourmet Pizza’s, Cocktails & friends!
June 25th, 2006
On Wednesday night a group of us all went out for dinner, for a joint night for Sarina and I.
We went out to GPK - a restaurant that has goooorgeous gourmet pizzas! We had about eight of us there, so decided we’d order some different pizzas and share them between us, so we all could try a bit of each.
We also had cocktails!! Man they were good. I had a Mandarin Sour and a French Daiquiri. So yum. Jo shouted Sarina and I a cocktail each
. Here’s some photo’s from the night:

I got some lovely prezzies from the girls; Sarina and Jo got me a basket full of L’Occitane products and they made a Caramel Macchiato kit. lol. They got me some coffee from Starbucks (Sarina used to work there), some vanilla flavouring, caramel syrup and marshmellows! hehe. I have to try it out - it looks gorgeous. Jo also got me some cute pink slippers with sparkly sequins on the top. Zarrin got me some make-up; eye liner, coloured lip gloss and eye shadow. Overall it was a fun night!
Feck I feel fat!

I’m back at work fulltime now. So I’m back in my work suit (uniform) and OMG does it feel tighter!
I blame Uni. Being at home all day you sometimes get bored, so you snack. Yes, I am weak, when I’m bored I snack.
I have to say though that my sister, Allie, is the same, however she doesn’t seem to gain any weight at all! She’s also a bad influence. “Lets go out for lunch today!”. Bad bad!
So I’m back at work and yes the skirt feels tighter, it sux! So I’ve been eating salads and fruit every day for lunch (since Monday). But it’s damn birthday season!
Birthday season, n. - a time when there are LOTS of birthdays. E.g. mine, my sister Maddie, my dad’s partner’s and my friend Sarina’s. I know it doesn’t seem like many, but really it is.
So, so far we’ve had four cakes (including one at work), a lunch out, three special dinners cooked by parents and Maddie had a weekend of pizza for her birthday! Plus I’m out to dinner tonight with girlfriends for a joint birthday for Sarina and I.
How’s a girl supposed to lose weight so she can look good in Fiji in NOVEMBER?!
Never-the-less I’m trying. I shall stick to it. Tonight should be the last celebration of birthday’s using food.
I’ll get my Fiji-body
I’m determined!
Happy Birthday to me!

He’s gone
June 16th, 2006
Well we left for the airport at 2.30pm, I picked my sister Maddie up from school (as she wanted to come too) and we headed out west to get Rob from his grandparents where he was dropping off his car to store in their garage while he’s away.
We arrived at the airport at about 3.30-4.00pm because of traffic, we had to leave early though as he had to be there three hours before his flight at 7.45pm. So after he checked in we had a few hours to kill. lol. We went to the McDonald’s there and had some food as he wouldn’t have his dinner on the plane until about 8.30pm and Maddie and I didn’t know what time we’d get home so thought it was a good idea to eat something. Rob’s family arrived a little later to see him off and we had a drink in the bar upstairs.
At 7.05pm it was time for him to board. I have to admit I had butterflies in my tummy as we were walking to the bit where he walks through and disppears to the US. Just before he went through he gave me a hug and a kiss, infront of his family
, but I was so glad he did. I didn’t want him to feel embarrassed and not kiss me… because that means I’d have to wait ages for another and I’d feel a lump in my stomach for the fact that I didn’t get one. lol. Just me, that’s how I feel.
Anywho.. he went through the gates and we all waved him on. We then went back upstairs and watched him go through to the departures lounge. He spotted us and took a photo of us all waving at him from upstairs
hehehe.. I can’t wait to see that photo!
I’m glad Maddie came with me.. otherwise the drive home would have been very lonely and sad. As it was raining, dark and cold. I did cry a little bit when I got home and mum asked me how it went.
I’m now in my room by myself and it’s weird. Normally he’s talking to me or making noises playing a game or saying “get off the computer and come to bed!!” lol. It sucks, because at the moment we’re perfect, no fights, totally in love and enjoying eachothers’ company and he’s gone!! But I guess we’ll have all that again when he gets back. It’s weird, because I keep thinking I’m going to get a text message from him soon.. but no, he didn’t take his mobile phone. lol.
Have lots of fun Rob, I love you lots and will see you on August 29th
Don’t forget to send me that letter
hehehe.
Are we a third world country now?!
June 13th, 2006
So an unexpected storm hit New Zealand on Monday 12 June 2006. Not only was it UNEXPECTED (how can it be? Don’t we have technology that warns us of this stuff?), but it also caused stress and chaos.
Power was out in Auckland City (the biggest and most profitable city in the country) for FIVE HOURS. Causing big losses ($50 million plus) to so many business’s.
The cause was a small earth wire which a wind gust snapped off a high-voltage pylon near the Otahuhu B substation, short-circuiting lines supplying electricity for 700,000 or more people throughout central, east and southwest Auckland.
I was happy that my power didn’t get cut out.. as I am North Auckland, like the only area that didn’t have a blackout.
There were also power outages further south and in the South Island. Even now, tonight, some poor people in the South Island (coldest part of New Zealand) are without power!
We also got hit with a massive rain, wind and snow storm. Which seemed to just come out of nowhere!! It was quite warm and sunny on the weekend. So it’s been pretty dark and cold around here lately.
On a nicer topic, Rob has been informed that he will only be going to America from Friday (16th June) until August 28th. The ticket people screwed up his airline tickets and booked his flight back for the day his Visa expired. Which makes sense now. As the camp only goes for eight weeks and we were all wondering what the hell he’d be doing afterwards!!
Here’s the link for the camp he’s been accepted into.
It’s a boys only camp in Maine. He’s going to have so much fun with all the sports and things going on there. He’s taking my camera, as he doesn’t have one and there’s no point buying another has he wont use it when he’s back - because I always take mine. So there wont be any photos from me for a couple of months!
