Four years
September 30th, 2006
Yesterday was mine and Rob’s four year anniversary. Sadly we didn’t really do anything or give gifts because we’re both lacking in the money area. Me being a student and him saving to go to Fiji. We went to see Talladega Nights which was pretty funny.
My best news is my weight loss!! I started counting Weight Watcher points on Tuesday (it’s now Saturday) and I’ve already lost 2.2kgs (4.9lbs). So I’m thrilled it’s working! Of course I have been playing tennis and indoor netball which I think helps. So I’m going to keep at it because it’s exciting! ![]()

Flirty Barista
September 23rd, 2006
Yesterday my sister and I decided we’d go have a coffee at a cafe on campus. We got up to the counter and the barista said to us “wow, something smells fruity.” I wasn’t sure if he was mocking us or just being random? My sister got closer to me and did that sniffing action that everyone does when they’re trying to smell something, by flaring her nostrils and sniffing in deeply. I looked at her weird. My perfume isn’t fruity flavoured. Then I clicked, I’d used my Fuzzy Peach moisturiser that morning.
As soon as I said it the barista was instantly excited and happy we had solved the riddle.
I can’t remember all the back and forth conversation, I just remember him being rather flirty, including when he brought our coffees out to our table, but I’d say it was just his personality and he was good at his job, by making you feel happy and good about yourself.
The bit that made me laugh was my sister who said, “Geez at this rate you could get a number Bron“.
Skip it!
September 20th, 2006
Last night Rob came home with a skipping rope for me. It’s my new fitness regime. I used to go for walks for about 30 minutes.. man they get boring and you don’t really get puffed or lift your heart rate.
So now.. every morning I skip for two minutes, or the length of a song. Geez it’s hard work!! I’m seriously puffed after two minutes of jumping. lol. I woke up this morning and my abs hurt!! I didn’t know I had abs, let alone how to use them and make them work. But I have them and they’re still kinda aching. I did my two minutes this morning to Ain’t No Mountain High Enough. haha. Keep it up Bron!
In Uni news, I’m so thrilled!! I’ve handed in my bloody long, painful accounting report (spent a total of 12 hours on it), so all I have left is a test on Access on Friday. YAY! Then nothing until exams, first one is November 2nd. So a bit of a rest period for me. Poor people who aren’t in the Business school, like my sister, have assignments right up until exams :yuk:
Rob and I are off to his parents for dinner tonight, always a fun time

Zarrin’s new flat.
September 16th, 2006
I just got back from a get together with everyone at Zarrin and her husband, Kim’s, new flat. Very cute place and hopefully they’ll have fun their together
We played games, gossiped and ate food. Always a fun combination. We each decided we’d bring a plate. Jo and I went back and forward a few times via text getting totally confused on what we were bringing. I finally settled on mini quiches and Jo on samosa’s (and she bought a few other things).
Because I can now use my camera and the quiches turned out beautifully I thought I’d add a photo!
Yummy huh?
I made an extra 12 or so for my family… as I had heaps to take to Zarrin’s. I couldn’t believe it when I got home to find three left! Between the 3, maybe 4, of them they had eaten most of them in one day! I’m so glad I set the ones I was taking to one side so no-one ate them!! At least I know they were a hit I guess. Better make some more one day soon.
I posted the recipe I used over at Talking Snack.
I’ve also got back into my healthy eating and made a deliciously awesome salad yesterday. It looked so good I had to snap it for eternity. The stuff ontop is feta cheese.. mmm.. and carrots!! I love carrots in salad, they fill you up so much. I actually looked forward to eating this. I know the feta isn’t that healthy, but it’s better than cheddar cheese or bread.
Today for lunch I had sushi. Sorry no photo. I tried my first peice of eel on sushi :yuk: . I didn’t like it! lol. The other sushi peices were nice and at least I can say I’ve tried it.
Well off to bed for me now… I don’t feel tired and it’s 2am!! What’s wrong with me?!!? Maybe it’s because I just got home and Rob’s not back from his do yet, so he’s bound to come in as I’m drifting off to sleep and wake me up! :plain:
I survived Spookers!
September 9th, 2006
Last night Rob, my younger sister, Maddie, and I went to Spookers. It’s out in the middle of nowhere in Kingseat Hospital, an old mental asylum. Rob and Maddie have both been wanting to go for aaages, I personally didn’t care if I never went. I’m a big wuss.
I had been getting myself ready for it all week. I’d finally come to the conclusion that it was just like a big Haunted House that you visit at Hallowe’en with a bunch of people inside wearing masks and make-up. That was all good and dandy until we got off the safe, lit up motorway and headed down a long, dark, dusty road into the country somewhere. After driving 14km into the dark, middle-of-nowhere country we came across a big entrance way and inside was the hospital. Still at this point I was not really scared. We parked the car and headed down to the main entrance when some dude jumped out with a big knife, cloak and horrible looking mask. Sure it doesn’t sound scary now. But it was dark and I wasn’t expecting any scary bits until we got in the place!
Once inside and all paid for I still wasn’t too scared. My sister and I did a quick stop to the toilets, just incase, then headed to the dark entrance. The guy gave us some info and we headed on our way. I have to say the first two minutes was the scariest, you walked through a small tunnel, all pitch black, and people grabbed your ankles and stroked your hair! AHH. By then I was freaking out and screaming. I soon realised that the more you scream and show them you’re scared the more they pick on you. Rob was calm the whole time and they wouldn’t follow him. Whereas me? I had to scream and run, so of course they’d follow me. I soon learned to try and keep quiet, of course it’s not that easy.
The rooms were really well done; they had a butcher with manican bodies with blood and all the gore (as has every room) on benches. There was a dentist trying to extract your teeth. Two girls who were dressed like the grudge and the ring girls, damn scary! And they even made the horrible noise. At one stage there was this cage like thing above us.. and I whispered, “there’s someone up there”, well I thought I whispered!!! Then suddenly she shrieked out “THERES SOMEONE UP THERE”. Feckin’ hell I nearly wet myself!! HAHA. Then we had to run under the cage bit which was getting lower and lower, so she was getting closer to us. The whole time shes banging and screaming after us. I have to say that was the scariest of all. Of course there’s tonnes more rooms and characters.
I’m very glad I went in the end. Now that I’m through it it’s not so scary. I definitely recommend you try something like it! haha.
Rob in the kitchen.
September 8th, 2006
On Wednesday Rob cooked my sister Maddie and I dinner. He made us Thai Green curry, as it is one of his new favourite foods, so I thought it would be perfect if he learnt to cook it. It was sooo yummm! :yum: Quite spicy, but definitely satisfied the taste buds.
The best bit is, if you know Rob, you know he doesn’t cook. Which is why I loved his meal so much more, the fact that he tried. Whatsmore, the curry turned out awesome, so he shouldn’t be put off from cooking. I took some photos to remember the occasion ;).

We played our first game of Indoor Netball last night. Man is it a fast, hardout game! I was puffed after five minutes! But I have to admit, I had fun and enjoyed it. I definitely want to play again next week! ![]()
Blackberry and pear shortcake
September 5th, 2006
1 1/4 cups flour
1 1/2 tsps baking powder
1/2 cup semolina (I left this out and added 1/2 cup of extra flour)
1/2 cup caster sugar
175 g butter
1 egg, beaten
2 tbsp cold water or milk
1/2 cup Boysenberry Jam (I used Blackberry)
410g can Pear Quarters in Clear Fruit Juice, drained and thickly sliced
1. Rub together flour, baking powder, semolina, caster sugar and butter in a mixing bowl until the mixture resembles crumbs.
2. Cut in beaten egg and water or milk and mix until the mixture forms small moist balls of dough. Take 2/3 of the mixture, lightly knead and press out to fit a 20 x 30cm slice tin.
3. Spread with jam, arrange sliced pear quarters evenly over jam. Scatter with remaining crumbled dough.
4. Cook at 180°C for 25-30 minutes or until golden. Cool on a wire rack, cut into 12 pieces. Serve warm as a dessert with custard, yoghurt or cream, any leftovers will make popular lunch box fillers.
This turned out so good and was so easy! I’m definitely going to make it again. The pears were so juicy.
Note how I can now finally use my camera properly? haha.
