Yesterday afternoon I came home from Uni at about 2.00pm to find Rob home, as he got rained out at work. As a spur of the moment thing we decided to go see Mr Bean’s Holiday. There are quite a few funny parts to the movie, but I wouldn’t say it’s his best.
It was quite exciting and relaxing to be going to the movies on a random Thursday afternoon. Of course I was feeling guilty that I should be at home finishing up my assignment for Law. As there’s another assignment I need to do as well for Management Accounting. Damnit.

Better do them tonight after work!

I passed my Finance test!! I am so thrilled, I thought I had definitely failed, but turns out I know more than I thought I did. haha. YAY!

No time, no money

March 28th, 2007

Wow, it’s been awhile! Luckily I have a great source of excuses. Like the fact that I’ve had three assignments and a test due in the last 10 days, and when I’m not studying or doing assignments, I’m working to make sure I have money for board and petrol for my car.

Nothing eventful has happened since my last post, life is way too busy to fit in exciting things! I haven’t taken a photo in about two weeks, which sucks, because I love posting photo’s - I’m sure people love to read posts with photo’s.

We’ve had some major changes at work recently, Charissa has now quit to go into Real Estate, we’ve had some new ladies start and they’re looking at adding another accountant to the team!
Our bosses are taking us out to lunch on Friday, as it’s the end of the financial year, the end of our year. So looking forward to that!

I have applied for a Summer Internship with the “Big 4″ Chartered Accounting firms here in Auckland. It’s basically a foot in the door for me and will give me experience with auditing. It runs from November to February. It would be really great to get, although they mainly offer it to third year students, so I’ll just apply again next year! I’m hoping my experience of already doing accounting helps push me through though!

It’s Rob cricket final this Saturday, so hopefully that goes smoothly. I’m looking forward to the afterparty! Gareth and Ange are hosting it this year - so good of them! We’re planning on sleeping in the back of my wagon, just have to put the backseats down! haha.

I will make a big effort to try and capture some snaps this week - I’m there will be some at the ‘do on Saturday. ;)

Sore bum and leg muscles

March 19th, 2007

This morning when I woke my whole body felt stiff. When I got out of bed to walk my bum and leg muscles ached. When I complained Rob laughed at me.
Why am I in this stiff, achy mess?
Because Rob and I decided we’d do the Round the Bays yesterday. It’s a 8.4km run* along Auckland Waitemata Harbour finishing in St Heliers Bay. 75,000 people entered!
Rob ran it in 43 minutes!! It took me 89 minutes. Just under an hour and a half! I was very pleased with myself.
After the run* we went up the big hill to Glover Park, where Rob’s company (who had sponsored us and gave us cool t-shirts) had set up a marquee with a BBQ and drinks for us! So we had some food and drinks and then had to start the hike back to the car. Which I was not at all amused at. Rob, who had been waiting 45 minutes for me to finish, was full of energy and had no problems except listening to me whine.

The run is for charity and the money goes towards four different teen related foundations.

I feel great for doing it and am definiteley going to enter next year!

*I only ran for about 10 minutes and walked the rest. Although it was a brisk walk!

Tonight when Rob came home he suggested we go buy some fish and chips and eat them on the beach for dinner. I thought it was a great idea, it’s been so hot lately and the sun doesn’t go down until about 8:00pm. After dinner at Browns Bay beach we walked down the road for an ice cream in a cone! You don’t find these too often anymore. Not much else to say about it, here’s some pics:

The little front screen of my mobile phone was broken yesterday, so now I’m on the hunt for a new one, it still works - but hey, any excuse right?
I’ve found the one I want here. I need to wait until April though, then I can keep the number I have now. They better not sell out! I love that it’s red, red is my colour.

Exhausted

March 8th, 2007

Last night when I got home from tennis at 9.00pm I was absolutely exhausted. Yesterday was a crazy day. I went to the gym at 6.30am for just over an hour. I then had a two hour lecture until 11.00am. After that I went to work until 5.00pm. Straight after work I headed to my tennis game, it rained the whole time we were playing, not heavy, just annoying. When I got home at 9.00pm I had to carry in my bag, tennis bag, books from Uni and clothes I wore to work. I ended up throwing it all down the stairs as my arms ached from the gym and playing tennis. Then when I saw Rob I felt like I was going to cry from the ’stress’. I put it in commas because I don’t really know what it is, it’s not really stress, maybe exhaustion.

As soon as Rob saw me he said “someone’s about to breakdown”. As soon as he said it I had tears in my eyes. He put his arms out to give me a hug. Within two minutes I was fine. I had my dinner, had a shower and sat down to watch Prison Break with him and all was fine.

I asked him a bit later on how he knew I was going to cry, his reply; “you looked sad and you threw all your stuff down the stairs”.

I feel absolutely fine today. I think I was just exhausted. I didn’t go to the gym this morning as I went Tuesday and Wednesday, plus tennis on Wednesday as well. My legs and arms ache when I walk up lots of stairs or carry lots. So I thought I’d give my body a break today.

I got the biggest suprise when Rob came home, these:

My roses from Rob

He said they were for Valentines, as he didn’t have any money around Valentines day. I had completely forgotten and wasn’t exepecting anything, so this was a wonderful suprise. He’s such a sweetheart!

An ‘A’ for effort

March 7th, 2007

Life is definitely full-on at the moment. I feel like I’m always running to get somewhere, always due to be somewhere at a certain time. I feel like I’m putting in 110% on everything I do, everyday!
In richness in life, I’d be a millionaire. I have no complaints, it’s great to be busy - I just can’t believe my life is this busy, when I don’t even have children to blame it on!

This morning I was struggling to my car with textbooks and ringbinders for Uni, my handbag, my lunch for when I get to work, my tennis gear for my game after work and of course still feeling hot after my shower after the gym. I never remember having to bring this much stuff with me, I’m just glad I go to the gym before I get ready for my day. My sister drives to the Uni gym, therefore having to take all her gear for the day with her! That’d be too much for me.

I was always told life got harder and faster as you got older, I never believed it. I thought it was just old fuddy-duddy’s complaining. But I can’t believe two weeks has passed and I’m due for a tennis game again tonight, it flies!

I do have relaxing moments in my life though; my favourites are singing in the car, reading books and my favourite is lying in bed in the morning with Rob; after the alarm has gone off and we’re lying there, cuddling, listening to the radio, hearing Rob say ‘one more song, then we’ll get up’ over and over until we really do have to get up.

I have to mention that Rob scored 166 in his cricket game on the weekend, the highest score in his team ever! Well done babe!
