Fashionable?

May 30th, 2007

I turned up to work today in my black knee-high boots, a knee-length jean skirt, a black top and a coloured scarf and was shocked by people’s reactions. A couple of them said “wow, is it a special day today?”, another said “you look very fashionable today”. I have to admit it was nice to get the compliments.
I wasn’t wearing anything amazing, I think it was my accessories - boots and scarf. Or maybe it’s the fact they’re accountants. Maybe accountants really are boring, old, fuddy-duddy’s. I don’t think I’ll ever be one of those accountants.

It could also be the big age gap between me and the rest of the staff. I’m 22, the next employee is 29; but she’s married and has a baby, after her, my next co-worker would be in her 40’s. After that they range all the way to 70.
At least I know it’s a job I can do forever.

Mint Credit Cards

May 30th, 2007

These days credit cards are a must. Mint Credit Cards are offering interest free terms until January 2008 as well as no annual fees. You can also apply for another free card for a friend or partner.
I got my first credit card about a year ago. I use it just about every week, especially as being a student can sometimes leave me strapped for cash and it’s the perfect answer! I love the fact that you can swipe the card as many times as you want and don’t incur any transaction costs.
This company is really in the now, you can manage your account online and recieve text message and email alerts.
Are you after an interest free credit card? Check out Mint.

Buffet with a twist

May 29th, 2007

I ended up working all of Saturday, so not fun. 8am-4.30pm. But it made me some good money, so that’s got to be a bonus.
I didn’t see or hear from Rob all day. He was out playing rugby or soccer, I didn’t know which. He didn’t know which one he was going to play in the morning. Turns out he didn’t play either. He’s very pissed at that.

I was driving home from work just before 5pm when I got a phone call from Rob on my mobile asking me what I wanted to do for dinner. I just assumed ‘which takeaway should we buy tonight?’. But he wanted to go out for dinner. Woohoo! I love dinners out. Doesn’t everyone?

We had been planning to go to a place called Ghengis Khan the week before, but I wasn’t feeling good, so we skipped it. We decided we’d try it out. At first we thought it was a bit pricey. But when we got there……. whole different story!
It’s Mongolian BBQ, as Rob put it, “we’re having our first Mongolian BBQ experience together”.
What happens? It’s buffet style with a twist. You fill up a bowl with rice or noodles, the meat you want (beef, chicken, seafood, pork), the vegetables you want and any sauces and flavoured oils you want.
Then you give it to the chefs standing around a huge round hot plate and they cook it for you infront of you!
So you’re completely making your own meal and you can go back as many times as you want! Which makes it a great deal for the money.
Also included in the price is dessert; pancakes and ice cream. By that stage you are so full.
We will definitely go again! :)

Lowest Unique Bid Wins!

May 27th, 2007

Bid4prizes.com has a unique way for people to win prizes. You must be the lowest, unique bid. How bad can that be? Not bad at all I say. Having to have the lowest bid to win, makes this website completely different to any other auction website you’ve ever seen.
The prizes they give away are awesome! There’s nothing cheap in their prize drawer. 50″ Plasma TV’s, 2007 BMW 3 series, Sorround sound systems and more.
I could definitely do with any of those, especially the 2007 BMW. My car, Mitsibushi Libero, is getting tired and is in no way as sexy as the BMW.
Check out the website and see which prize you want!

Today at Uni I had my first Chai latte experience. It was delicious! I was always a bit scepitcal about getting one because I didn’t know what I’d get! I tried to get people to explain it, but no one could. I can. It’s like Japanese green tea but sweeter, with cinnamon and smoother because of the milk. I still prefer mochaccino’s, but this is definitely a second choice, especially if I don’t want caffine. Try one!

OMG. Tonight on Grey’s…. they can’t let her die! I just saw episode 16, we’re way behind. So I couldn’t help myself and went to the ABC Grey’s Anatomy website. And she seems to spend the next episode between life and death? Hmm.. not so happy about that. I don’t like the flitting between life and death. It annoys me. But I kept looking through episodes and she appears to live. I knew she would. So don’t tell me anymore, I can wait. :)

Bedtime now, to read my new book.

I have found a website who help out students with refinancing and the paying of their student loans. It’s about time! Most students are in this situation. Wouldn’t it be easier to pay lower amounts each month until you finish your degree? I think so! I never have any spare cash at the end of a pay fortnight.
If you have more than one loan they can also help to consolidate it so you’re paying one monthly payment for all your loans.
Check out the site and see if they can help you out. No one wants to pay more than they have to!

So tired

May 23rd, 2007

In the last two weeks I have felt tired just about everyday. It must be the weather change, as it’s effecting more people than just me.
Yesterday in our Law lecture, there was three of us trying to stay awake. I don’t know if that was tiredness or just how boring it is to learn about how to legally declare someone bankrupt. *yawn*
Rob has also been complaning of feeling tired when he wakes up. It makes it so hard to get going in the mornings! It doesn’t help that we’ve had a few weekends in a row when we haven’t got to bed until 2 or 3am on Sunday morning. Maybe it’s all catching up with us.

I’ve finally completed all my assignments for this semester. No more! Just exams to come. My first one is June 13th, damnit, only about 3 weeks. So now I need to start studying, which is not fun when you’re tired. Well I’ll be honest, it’s never fun.

This morning when after Rob left for work at 6.45am I fell back asleep and didn’t wake up until 8am. I figured I was going to be late for my tutorial, so skipped it and went to the gym. The arrived at work at 10am, an hour earlier than normal. Yay! An hour extra pay.
I need the extra hours at work, not just for the money factor, but of how much damn work I have. I am getting phone calls, emails and faxes from clients constantly asking if they’re next in the list. I always have to reply with, ‘I’m sorry but we deal on a first in first served basis’. Until you get a b*tchy client who needs their accounts done “urgently”. Argh.

Back to it!
