Well loved jeans & a yummy recipe.

September 27th, 2007

Image alt I was distraut when I found that my most loved pair of jeans had a hole in them! You know when you find a pair of jeans that make you look good? And they look dressy enough to wear out to dressier events with a nice top? These were mine. But alas they now have an unfixable hole, yes right in the crotch region. I tried sewing them back up, but it doesn’t last long.
Luckily we are going into the summer seasons so it’s not such a need to have jeans. I still may have to buy another pair as we still have cold nights. Yay! An excuse to go shopping. I hope I can find another pair that look good. They weren’t an expensive or labeled pair, they just seem to sit right.

Image alt In other news; I cooked dinner tonight. I made crumbed chicken with risotto and salad. It was very yum and it looked great too, so I took some photos.
I put garlic, parsley and bread crumbs into a food processor and processed them up for my chicken crumbing. Then coated the chicken breasts and put them in the electric fry pan to cook.
I made my risotto with arborio rice, chicken stock, onion, garlic, tuscan seasoning and a teaspoon of sesame oil. Once all cooked I stirred through some shaved parmesan cheese.
I made a salad to go with it to complete the meal. It turned out wonderfully and delish!

For the past three weeks the radio station I listen to, The Edge, has been running a competition; Three strangers and a wedding. I have been hooked to my radio since the bride-to-be was picked!
The Edge has run this competition twice before, both being successful and the couples still together. So this time they gave it a twist by having two groom’s of which the bride picked her husband-to-be just before walking down the isle.

The bride and groom had never met before or seen photo’s of eachother, but have talked a few times.
Chantelle is originally from Canada but living in New Zealand. Her parents were not thrilled with the idea and she nearly pulled out of it, which caused some issues, but she stuck to it.
At 7.50am this morning Chantelle picked her groom, Paul, and married him in the Auckland Viaduct.

I hope it all works out for them and is a success like the last two couples.

A great Friday.

September 22nd, 2007

There’s something wonderful about Friday’s, they’ve always been my favourite day of the week. You still have work or lectures, but they just seem so much more relaxed and everyone around you is in a better mood, with thoughts that the week is slowing and the weekend is in view.

I had a great Friday yesterday, Rob had the day off, it was so sunny and I felt relaxed. After a nice sleep in (8.30am), Rob got up and headed off to get his warrant for his car while I got some breakfast and checked out what was happening on the Food Channel. (I’m totally addicted). It only took Rob about an hour to get his car checked so that cut my Food Channel time down, lets just say Rob is not the Food Channel’s biggest fan. I always get the remark “you never cook any of the stuff you watch!”, but I keep replying with, “yes I may not now, but when I get the opportunity to cook a fish head with horseradish sauce I’ll know exactly what to do with it!”.

After more complaining we decided we’d better do something else rather than squabble over TV channels. Rob came up with the idea of seeing a movie, to which my sister, obviously eavesdropping - while watching the Food Channel (huge fan like me!) - agrees quickly so we all know she wants to go. There’s not much on on a Friday morning, so we pick Evan Almighty. Can’t say I loved it, but some parts were funny, so money not wasted.

We get out of the movie by noon and the sun is shining and it looks like a perfect summer’s day. Rob decides he’s going to play golf since he has the chance. He asks me if I want to walk the course with him. (I’ve done this before, it’s quite a nice walk). I ask him how long it will take, “umm four hours” he replies.
So off we set, me with a skirt to start my tan for summer and my camera to keep me interested. Rob’s remark when he sees my camera, “oh God, why are you bringing that?” “Because I like taking photo’s!” I reply. “And it will make the walk more exciting”. Rob gives in but has one last remark “just don’t take photo’s on every hole.”
We started off good, I was enjoying myself taking lots of photo’s and trying not to get hit by flying balls. The scenery on a gold course is gorgeous!

On the course

I even got some great ones of Rob in action when he wasn’t looking. Hehe.

Rob

I had to laugh by the seventh hole, because Mr-don’t-take-photos, was asking me to get a photo of him from the back. Hehe.

After about the 10th hole we were walking to the flag, when a guy that Rob had joined up with to play pointed out a couple of birds and their eggs. He said to me “why don’t you get a photo of the eggs? just watch out that you don’t get attacked.”
So I jogged over towards the eggs.. thinking the birds wouldn’t actually attack me. As I got closer they started to squawk really loudly. So I quickly rushed to get my camera out and had to zoom to get a good photo (I was till quite far away).

The bird that tried to kill me for looking at it's eggs.

Suddenly one of the birds was in flight and heading towards me! It came speeding at me three times as I turned to run away. Rob saw me running and the bird chasing and started to laugh. Luckily the bird stopped after I got a few metres away, but damn that was scary. When I reached Rob he asked why I didn’t get a photo of the bird soaring towards me. Um yeah, I didn’t have time to get a photo! I was too busy running!

The round took sooo long! Rob had guessed four hours, because that’s what it is normally, but we had this slow-ass, wimpy guy who kept complaining we he stuffed up and then quit after 9 holes. It took five and a half hours. By the end I was bored, Rob was starting to lose his enthusiasm for the game and we were ready to go home, but Rob had paid for his game so he wasn’t leaving early!

I got to play a little bit near the end because Rob couldn’t be bothered, so I did his putting on the green and had a swing with an iron on the side of the course.

While walking around the course I was texting Jo, Sarina and Zarrin to see what they were up to and if they wanted to come around in the evening for some drinks, food and fun. Everyone could make it which was awesome. We had some drinks, chips, dip and pate, while watching Star Wars 2 (never seen it - I may rent them all and see them, just so I have). Of course no-one really saw that much of the movie, we talked all the way through it. While the movie was running we also played Headbands, great game. Once Star Wars finished we put Edward Scissorhands on, I haven’t seen that in ages!! It’s so good, I must buy it! After we got sick of Headbands we played Taboo for a bit, also a fun game.
After some more chat the girls headed off at 1am and I hopped into my warm (electric blanket) bed to end what I think was a great Friday.

Time for an off-phase.

September 18th, 2007

It’s turned warmer here in the last few days, it’s quite exciting to know that summer is around the corner. You can notice the mood of people, everyone’s always happy and cheerful in the spring and summer months.

I celebrated this change by painting my toe nails a bright red and purchasing some new (havaiana) jandals, in dark brown. I picked these type of jandals because I was told by a few people that they are the most comfortable jandals you can buy. And those people were right. I also want to go buy a butter yellow pair, but I’ll wait until my next pay day.

I’ve lost the enthusiasm I had for this site 6-12 months ago. I seem to go through phases of blogging. At the moment it’s an off-stage. I don’t know if it’s the distraction of my new camera or the fact that I seem to be a lot busier these days; with school, friends and work. I still try and update, but sometimes it’s been a dull (but busy at Uni and work - but you don’t want to hear about that crap) week, so there’s nothing to say.
I guess that’s why I like photos and posting to flickr. I don’t have to say anything, I can just post a pretty picture. :)

I know how to spend money.

September 9th, 2007

This weekend has been a good one. I’ve had a bit of a mix of everything happen. It wasn’t a full-on weekend, I hate those, but we caught up with different people and still managed some shopping and a lunch out.

Yesterday I caught up with Jo and Sarina for brunch. Sarina had suggested a place, it was a real cute place and there was so much to choose from on the menu! I had ham, mushrooms and poached eggs. The best mushrooms I’ve had! I don’t know what they cooked them with, but they were awesome. I need to go back there to have another mushroom hit.
I also noticed the cafe had great decor, luckily Jo had her camera and wiped it out for me to snap a shot.

After brunch with the girls, Rob and I headed off into the city to check out a place he wanted to get his last tattoo done at. Last is bolded because he’s not allowed anymore. Unless he gets my name tattooed on him ;) hehe.
Anywho, after talking to the guy and checking he has enough money, Rob decides he’s going to get it done there and then. I can’t handle tattoo/piercing places. They freak me out. I’ve seen all Rob’s tattoo’s be done, but I’m still not immune. The guy who did it had tattoo’s all over his neck and piercings everywhere - even on his ELBOWS. So yes, he freaked me out a bit. I was feeling a bit butterfly-ish and sick. I even said to Rob at one stage (before the tattoo had even begun) that I felt like I was going to throw up and I’m sure the elbow-pierced-man looked at me like I was unusual.
So after double checking that the elbow-pierced-man had traced the tattoo into the right place and up the right way I headed off to Borders. Oh wow. I love that place. I must have been there an hour and a half.. just looking at books and checking out different authors. Luckily Rob was preoccupied or he would have complained the whole way around the four-level store.
I came away with two purchases from a possible eight, I wasn’t rich enough for eight unfortunately. War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy and The Memory Keepers Daughter by Kim Edwards. So I have been reading my current book to try and get to the next!
After much fun in Borders I headed back to the tattoo place to see that Rob’s tattoo was just about finished and it turned out good.

Rob's newest tattoo

While we were in the city we got a text from Natalie and Dylan to go over to their place and watch the All Blacks game vs Italy. The game didn’t start until 11pm so Nat and I watched High School Musical while we were waiting. I hadn’t seen it before, it’s quite a cute movie! Of course the All Blacks kicked ass and we were home by 1.30am.

Today Rob and I headed out to the new mall built in Albany for a look and some lunch. They have a L’Occitane shop which I love, so I had to buy something. It’s not cheap. I paid $35NZD for this grape moisturiser, it’s new. But it’s SO good. Of course I also asked the girl for freebie samples, which she gave me. They’ve bought out a new range, Almond & Apple, which I got freebies for, which is also delicious!

So I’ve spent lots of money this weekend, so I need to be good this week to make it through to my next pay day, next Tuesday!

The Mini Goals

September 6th, 2007

So as previously mentioned I am on a quest to lose weight. It’s slowly moving, but I find the whole thing a big bewildering. It seems so far away. I have now given myself mini goals - to lose 1kg a week before Christmas. That’s 14 weeks; so 14kgs. I know 14kgs sounds lots, but it’s not really, plus losing it only one kilogram a week is safe enough.
I want to be ready for summer! Here’s some before photo’s:

Neglect

September 2nd, 2007

Well it’s been awhile. I wish I had the excuse that nothing has been happening… but that’d be a lie. I’m just too into my camera and photos.

Last weekend after buyingmy new toy, Rob took me out sight-seeing for some photo taking. We were lucky because it was a beautiful day, so sunny and blue. Couldn’t have wished for better. We went to Devonport, Cornwall Park and climbed One Tree Hill. Here’s my favourite photo’s for the day:

I think this camera makes my photos have such amazing clarity and colours!

Monday to Friday were very long days as I’m on Uni holidays so am working fulltime at the moment. It’s painful, but I get paid this Tuesday, so it’s going to be a good amount of money.

Last night myself, Rob and a group of our friends headed off to Waiwera Hot Pools for swimming and a BBQ. Rob had organised it for everyone to get together before his friend, Chris, leaves for Canada next Saturday.
The last time I went to Waiwera and went down the waterslides I must have been about 12. So I thought I’d try them out again. OMG bad mistake. The first slide I went on I injured my chest. When you’re 12 you don’t have boobs. I hadn’t thought about this and went down sitting up as soon as I hit the water at the bottom, it hit my chest with a big thud that hurt for ages.
Thankfully the other girls weren’t into sliding either, so we retired to the second hottest pool (the hottest - 48*C - being too hot to get into, it would have boiled us alive) for some floating and soaking.

Today has been a semi-slow day. It’s Father’s Day, so we stopped over to see Dad for a bit.
It’s also my Nana’s birthday tomorrow. So we have her over for dinner tonight to celebrate.

I’ve also restarted the 365 day challenge, I need to finish it! I only got to 59 days last time. Hopefully I can get to 365 this time. Check it out.
