There’s something wonderful about Friday’s, they’ve always been my favourite day of the week. You still have work or lectures, but they just seem so much more relaxed and everyone around you is in a better mood, with thoughts that the week is slowing and the weekend is in view.
I had a great Friday yesterday, Rob had the day off, it was so sunny and I felt relaxed. After a nice sleep in (8.30am), Rob got up and headed off to get his warrant for his car while I got some breakfast and checked out what was happening on the Food Channel. (I’m totally addicted). It only took Rob about an hour to get his car checked so that cut my Food Channel time down, lets just say Rob is not the Food Channel’s biggest fan. I always get the remark “you never cook any of the stuff you watch!”, but I keep replying with, “yes I may not now, but when I get the opportunity to cook a fish head with horseradish sauce I’ll know exactly what to do with it!”.
After more complaining we decided we’d better do something else rather than squabble over TV channels. Rob came up with the idea of seeing a movie, to which my sister, obviously eavesdropping - while watching the Food Channel (huge fan like me!) - agrees quickly so we all know she wants to go. There’s not much on on a Friday morning, so we pick Evan Almighty. Can’t say I loved it, but some parts were funny, so money not wasted.
We get out of the movie by noon and the sun is shining and it looks like a perfect summer’s day. Rob decides he’s going to play golf since he has the chance. He asks me if I want to walk the course with him. (I’ve done this before, it’s quite a nice walk). I ask him how long it will take, “umm four hours” he replies.
So off we set, me with a skirt to start my tan for summer and my camera to keep me interested. Rob’s remark when he sees my camera, “oh God, why are you bringing that?” “Because I like taking photo’s!” I reply. “And it will make the walk more exciting”. Rob gives in but has one last remark “just don’t take photo’s on every hole.”
We started off good, I was enjoying myself taking lots of photo’s and trying not to get hit by flying balls. The scenery on a gold course is gorgeous!

I even got some great ones of Rob in action when he wasn’t looking. Hehe.

I had to laugh by the seventh hole, because Mr-don’t-take-photos, was asking me to get a photo of him from the back. Hehe.
After about the 10th hole we were walking to the flag, when a guy that Rob had joined up with to play pointed out a couple of birds and their eggs. He said to me “why don’t you get a photo of the eggs? just watch out that you don’t get attacked.”
So I jogged over towards the eggs.. thinking the birds wouldn’t actually attack me. As I got closer they started to squawk really loudly. So I quickly rushed to get my camera out and had to zoom to get a good photo (I was till quite far away).

Suddenly one of the birds was in flight and heading towards me! It came speeding at me three times as I turned to run away. Rob saw me running and the bird chasing and started to laugh. Luckily the bird stopped after I got a few metres away, but damn that was scary. When I reached Rob he asked why I didn’t get a photo of the bird soaring towards me. Um yeah, I didn’t have time to get a photo! I was too busy running!
The round took sooo long! Rob had guessed four hours, because that’s what it is normally, but we had this slow-ass, wimpy guy who kept complaining we he stuffed up and then quit after 9 holes. It took five and a half hours. By the end I was bored, Rob was starting to lose his enthusiasm for the game and we were ready to go home, but Rob had paid for his game so he wasn’t leaving early!
I got to play a little bit near the end because Rob couldn’t be bothered, so I did his putting on the green and had a swing with an iron on the side of the course.

While walking around the course I was texting Jo, Sarina and Zarrin to see what they were up to and if they wanted to come around in the evening for some drinks, food and fun. Everyone could make it which was awesome. We had some drinks, chips, dip and pate, while watching Star Wars 2 (never seen it - I may rent them all and see them, just so I have). Of course no-one really saw that much of the movie, we talked all the way through it. While the movie was running we also played Headbands, great game. Once Star Wars finished we put Edward Scissorhands on, I haven’t seen that in ages!! It’s so good, I must buy it! After we got sick of Headbands we played Taboo for a bit, also a fun game.
After some more chat the girls headed off at 1am and I hopped into my warm (electric blanket) bed to end what I think was a great Friday.
