The stresses of life

March 31st, 2008

I’m 23, a University student, in New Zealand, in a happy and loving relationship, close with my sisters, have good groups of friends at University, from High School and through other leisure/social activities. Life should be wonderful and so easy. No, sadly that’s very far from the truth.

People always say “oh student life is so easy, best time of your life”. Sure I love being a student and love that I will come out with a degree. But it’s not easy. I don’t party every weekend. That’s how it should be, but somehow hasn’t turned out that way. I’m too poor and always seem to be on a deadline for an assignment or test.

Money stress is the worst thing ever. It’s holidays for me at the moment. Normally I would work full time and try and make some money. But this year, my third year at Uni, has proven to difficult to work full time as well as complete the two assignments due at the end of April and study for the two tests I’m going to sit next week.

I got paid today, but I’m already poor. I’ve already worked out all my costs that need to come out and I’m basically left with nothing. It’s also Rob’s birthday next month. He told me not to worry; after I came home tonight a bit sour and burst into tears at the depressing level of it all, but I can’t forget his birthday! I’ve got two things in mind I want to get him and I want to take him out for dinner. So somehow I’m going to have to work out how I can achieve it all. I seriously need to type up a budget for the next three months. Just to get through until June when we have a mid-semester break.

My first and second years of Uni were cruisey, I barely did any work at home and still passed OK. This year is tough, I know I need to put in a lot of work to pass it.

I know this sounds a bit whiny. But it’s my blog, it’s what my blog is here for. I’m sure there’s others out there like me. Just wanted to share.

And if anyone knows the winning numbers to the lotto draw for this Saturday, please leave me a comment with them enclosed.

Calling cards

March 31st, 2008

We have a lot of family overseas in England, Australia and even just at the bottom of the North Island of New Zealand, which is considered a toll call.
The Rich Comm have calling cards for all other the world at really reasonable prices. Much cheaper than if you called through your phone provider and paid the bill at the end of the month.
There are calling cards available for over 800 countries. There are lots of cards available for me to be able to ring the United Kingdom and I can pre-pay as much as I’d like to spend. This would be perfect for my mum and dad to call me when I go to the UK next year. So cheap for them to be able to get in touch with me and annoy me constantly, I’m sure!

Rhubarb Crumble & Custard

rhubarb crumble w/ custard

So delicious! My mum whipped this up for dessert tonight. I was never a fan of rhubarb in the past, but the tangyness along with vanilla custard just goes so well!

Plastic recycling

March 30th, 2008

This is something that we all seriously need to take on if we want to have an Earth in 100 years. High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) is a commonly used plastic which can be recycled.
Here in New Zealand we have a huge recycling system and put out plastic, glass, tin, aluminum and paper to recycle each fortnight.

It’s good to see a company who is worried about the environment and creating a plastic that can be recycled rather than adding to the worlds rubbish dumps.
They collect the grind the plastic into HDPE Granules and sell it on to be recycled by companies for packaging for their products.

It’s just really good to see a company that’s on the environment’s side.

Seventy-six through one hundred.

Auto Financing

March 29th, 2008

My sister recently purchased a new car via finance. She got a cute Mazda 2 at a decent price. But had she known she could have got a quote for an Auto Loan online, she may have ended up with a better deal. It’s great because there are no application fees and you can get it approved online. So quick and easy. They also offer their services nationwide so no matter where in the country you are, they can help you with a loan.
They pride themselves on the ease of getting a loan, it’s not time consuming and not difficult to complete and be approved.
