Visitors left, right & center

I have come to discover that I have many more friends and family regulating my blog. I know people from high school have been regular visitors for a while but I now have my Dad (Hi Dad & Laurel! *wave*) asking me questions about past blog entries and friends from University amazed that I keep a blog and now making sure to check it. Everyone now seems to want to check in to see if I’ve posted anything about them. You can all rest easy; I don’t bitch and moan about people on here… of course if I really wanted to, I’d just password the entry ;).

I’m very happy for friends and family to read my blog, you’re all wonderful people - hence why you’re my friend/family. Just make sure to leave me a comment or talk to me when you see me and mention you did pop by. Rather than just secretly stalking! haha.

At the moment there is no real gossip happening in my life. Just life is happening. Attending Uni and working and still trying to keep a social life on the side. But hopefully once my travels begin… now delayed to 2010… you will find much more interesting posts and photos galore to browse here.

But right now I must do some work for my Auditing tutorial so; lots of love to you all! x

A weekend update

EDIT: ANOTHER UPDATE: The Dark Knight was absolutely brilliant! I definitely want to see it again. The whole movie was awesome, not one slow part. I can definitely see what people are saying about Heath Ledger winning an Oscar. He definitely steals the show and becomes the main character.

Dinner at my sister’s was fun. She had no power. So we had wine, cheese and bread by candlelight. Unfortunately for my sister and her boyfriend, I was the third wheel at the romantic candlelit meal. But they weren’t too worried.

I also went to Nick’s party after the movie. Was a lot of fun. I was driving, so didn’t drink. I had had a few wines at dinner. So just had one tequila shot to tide me over. It’s Nick’s birthday party on the 16th of next month. It’s going to be a big night, so will not be driving that night! Must get myself prepared for it. Can’t wait!

Was home just before 3am this morning, not too bad.

The ballet was absolutely fabulous. As I expected it to be. I definitely recommend it, ladies. Grab a girlfriend or your mother and go! I don’t think it’s an outing for the men, but you never know, someone may have a boyfriend who likes the theatre.
It had everything; the dresses (no tutu’s… boo!), the orchestra, men in tights and of course the romantic love story that is Romeo and Juliet.
I will definitely attend the next ballet that comes to Auckland, if I like the story of course.

Tonight I’m off to my sister, Allie’s, house and she is going to cook me dinner - I’m bringing the wine!! - then we’re off to see The Dark Knight. Oooh exciting! I’ve also been invited to a friend, Nick’s, party so we will go over and join in after the movie.

The weather service has said that New Zealand is going to have a huge storm in the next few hours, the biggest storm we’ve had in over a decade; with high speed wind and lots and lots of rain. Joy. So I’m at work. Best place to be I feel.

Tutu’s a plenty

Tomorrow night I am off to the Royal New Zealand Ballet. They are performing Romeo and Juliet. I am very excited, it will be my first professional ballet concert. It also means I can cross another item off my 100 things.
I am really into my culture and shows at the moment. After seeing the Priscilla musical and all the films in the film festival I seem to be on a roll.

These are shots from last nights performance.

I was a ballerina up until the age of 11, which is when we moved to Auckland. We have many home videos of me in tutu and costumes performing on stage. It’ll be great to see some real professionals. I can’t wait!

Eye candy

For all my female visitors (sorry guys, close your eyes!); I would like to introduce the new man in my life. Hah. I wish. He’s the new face and *ahem* everything else of Dolce & Gabbana. He was certainly well picked for the role.

All the ladies at work had to take a few deep breaths before recovering and getting back to their work. Very nice. No idea what his name is though - anyone know? Does anyone care? I’m not worried. Hehe.

Film Festival 08

The Film Festival is coming to an end here in NZ. It finishes July 27th. I have only managed to see two movies; Persepolis and I Just Didn’t Do It. Hopefully I will squeeze in another before the end.

Persepolis was a French animated film, that I would definitely see again.
Persepolis
I Just Didn’t Do It was a Japanese film that also enjoyed and would see again.
I Just Didn't Do It

There’s two that I missed that I’m angry about. Be Kind Rewind; with Jack Black, and In Bruges; with the sexy Colin Farrell. But I am suspecting that both will come out on DVD eventually. So Sarina and I have agreed to have movie night and watch them. She saw both and loved them equally.

Have you had a Film Festival near you? Seen any good films?

A night in.

Today I sorted my University life out again. I am now completing the four years of study I need to complete to become a Chartered Accountant, after a friend made me see the sense and persuaded me to do auditing with him. I was originally just doing the three years for the bachelor degree and was intending to come back to New Zealand after my UK trip and study the fourth year to be able to apply to become a Chartered Accountant. But because of the mess I’ve made with my papers it means I might as well do those “liberal” papers while finishing my accounting degree. I am very excited about the papers open to me to take as liberal papers. I have picked up a psychology paper this semester and have others lined up such as; World War II, Greek Mythology and Magic and Witchcraft. I’m not 100% sure on Magic and Witchcraft, I think I may need to read up a bit more about what is involved and how indepth it goes.

Tonight is Friday and I am having a night in. I feel I deserve one. Sometimes a Friday in is the best thing you can ask for. Have got myself bucket-loads of diet coke (had two wines at Friday-work drinks - that’s enough!!) and have the next season of The OC ready to go.

I was such a goodie-good and even came home and did my Professional E-Business homework - write a 300 word blog. About anything! So easy for me. I like to write about random blog-stuff.

Tomorrow I’m working, to make up for my days off this week (while road-tripping) and then Sarina is picking me up and we’re off to see another Film Festival film. Fabulous!

very happy to be a JAFA

Touring to the small towns of New Zealand is always a huge eye-opener. It makes me very happy to be a resident in New Zealand’s largest city. Sure people who don’t live here in Auckland like to hassle us about latte’s and calling us snobs. But really, I wouldn’t live anywhere else in NZ. We even get the term JAFA - just another f***ing Aucklander, but really I’d rather be a JAFA than half the people I saw these last few days. How do they live like that?! No I’m not a snob. I’ve always loved the country, just not the way people live out there.

But apart from the scaryness of the crazy people out in the middle of nowhere we did have a great time. Went out to dinner a couple of times. Abused the spa and shower …. in the hotel. Had a few wines. Shopped ’til we dropped and were poor. Snapped photos and did some touristy visiting.

I was very happy with the shopping expedition, bought myself some jeans (as my other pair no longer fit me, yay!), a top, a few books and lots of revolting coffees.
I had to switch to cups of tea this morning after having four coffees that tasted like shite. They obviously don’t know how to make coffee down there. So not good.

But sadly it’s back to Uni tomorrow, I have a three hour class in the morning and then work in the afternoon. Back to the real world. In JAFA-land, where they know how to make coffee.
