blob

Well I’m feeling a hell of a lot better since my last post. That was a post of pure expression of how I felt at that moment.

Sat my test on Monday, handed in one assignment this morning (was up until 1am finishing it, but it’s done and dusted!) and was working on my last assignment all day today (8am - 6pm). Have a bit more to do on it tomorrow, but am feeling confident it’ll be done on time.

So now that I’m feeling far more positive tonight. Tonight is blob night. God I need one. I’m now going to run myself a bubble bath, paint my nails, veet my legs (veet is awesome! especially now that we’re heading into summer, so silky smooth!), put on my track pants, pour a glass of wine, enjoy my steak and salad for dinner, curl up on the couch and enjoy Coronation Street. Yes don’t mock me, I’m seriously getting into it - very addictive! I dare you to watch it sometime ;) hah.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that a friend of mine told me about a photography competition here in NZ, well online here in NZ, run by Habitat for Humanity. So I entered one of my photos. The prize is a Nikon D60 worth $1,700 - nice! I’m not asking for votes, because they have a panel of judges. So just keep your fingers and toes crossed for me please!

for fuck’s sake

i can’t even explain how i feel right now. but i want to burst into tears and scream at the top of my lungs at the same time.

crème bruleè… i love you

You know how I said I was far too busy to fit in a family dinner? All I can say is that I’m glad I made the time and effort because it’s so important to see people when you can.

The family we saw was my grandparents on my dad’s side. They live in Wellington so we don’t see them often. They’re both now in their mid 80’s and sadly it’s a true reality that that could be the last time we see them. I know that’s very depressing, but you just don’t know these days! They were absolutely thrilled that we managed to organise time to see them. We had a wonderful dinner with them, just my sisters and I. I don’t think the three of us have ever really spent time with just them, there’s always been parents around. But since my dad is in France, he couldn’t make it to dinner. So we got some great grandparent-grandchildren time. I’m not putting down my dad in any way, but you know how nice it is to spend one-on-one time with your grandparents?

Firstly we had a drink in the bar of their hotel, as you traditionally do, but having not eaten since 1.00pm I was feeling slightly sloshed after the huge glass of wine, not a good look in front of the grandparents.
Then they took us to Cin Cin down at the Auckland waterfront, wow, amazing place! I’d been there once before for my mum’s birthday, but didn’t remember the amazing meals! My meal was like something of the rich and famous:

ENTRÉE: Seared scalops and duck pave, cauliflower, apple, celery, crisp potato

MAIN: Ballottine of chicken, porcini mousseline, wild mushrooms, chestnuts, potato puree, baby onions

DESSERT: Vanilla crème bruleè, orange and lime salad, passionfruit syrup, mandarin sorbet

This is exactly the dessert I had, the photo is from their website. To die for.

Oh my lord. So delicious. One day I hope I earn enough to be able to afford meals out at places like this!

My grandparents have asked that we try and squeeze in a trip to Wellington before we all start jet-setting around the world, sounds like a good plan to me!

Herbed chicken & sweet chilli cabbage

Since life is chocker and uneventful I thought I’d post a recipe, since I haven’t in a while. Well this isn’t really a recipe per se, more a throw together that turned out delish!

herbed/crumbed chicken & stir fry vege

I coated the chicken breast (sliced) in bread crumbs and herbs. (Herbs: tuscan seasoning - salt, garlic powder, oregano, marjoram).
Cook until browned and flesh inside is white, not pink. You want salmonella-free chicken.

Stir fry: crushed garlic, onion, cabbage, carrot, green beans, mushrooms & spring onion.

Sliced all up and cooked together, of course adding mushrooms and spring onion last as they take less time to cook.
Stir through a big dollop (seriously don’t know the measurement, sorry) of sweet chill sauce.

Once cabbage and other vege cooked through, serve!

This is my new favourite way to eat cabbage, not normally much of a fan of cabbage.

No room for error

It’s just so typical that everything happens at once. I’ve already mentioned in my previous post that this week is a busy one for me.

But now even more has been added to it. Yes, I’m whining and complaining. I’m allowed to.

I have got one test out the way, and feel very confident about it. But still have one test to do as well as three assignments. All to be done and dusted by next Wednesday.

Now some family have come up and want me to go visit. I want to, family is always good to see. But could they have picked a better week?? Geeeeez.

What’s more, it’s absolutely gorgeous outside. Sunny and sizzling hot! So I’m off for a walk now, I don’t really have an hour to spare, but screw it, I’m feeling The Stress has got me and I need to have some time out.

It’s either mailbu shots or walking, and you should be so proud that I picked the latter.

A day at the beach would be bliss right about now

It’s been a crazy week; both at work and university. Lots of assignments, tests and the worst/messy accounts ever to finish at work.

Coming up in the next two weeks I have; two tests and two assignments. It doesn’t sound like much, but when you think I have to study for the two tests and actually complete the two assignments within 14 days it’s damn hard!

A girlfriend of mine is having man problems. As every girl goes through. I feel for her, sadly there’s nothing her or I can do to fix the problem. So instead we’re going to have daiquiri’s and girly night.

I am looking forward to tomorrow afternoon though, a three-way muffin date with Toni and Nick.

My weekend by numbers

Just borrowing from Miss Em because she’s brilliant and this is the best way to breakdown a weekend.

To end, some photo’s from last night.

“An accountant? really?”

You’d be amazed at how often I hear this. I never know whether to take it as a compliment or an insult. It could swing both ways really, either they think I don’t have the intelligence for it or they’re thinking I’m far too social, depending on the question asker.

I mean lets face it, accounting is not cool. It’s not sexy. But it pays damn well and it’s a cushy office job. There’s also the issue of your work colleagues you spend eight hours a day with, more then likely they’re in their 40s-70s, which leaves zero chance of ever having an office romance.

But really we can’t pigeon-hole accountants for how they used to be; a balding older man in a grey sweater. They’re slowing being wiped out, and us young, fun group of graduates are popping into the start of our careers.

I stuck to accounting because I understand it and even slightly enjoy it (shh don’t mock me!) but I still have a creative side to me; I enjoy photography, cooking, reading, writing, blogging and I even have a sense of humour! I’m not all about numbers. In fact, I can’t even multiply or divide in my head!
