The detox week that last three days
July 5th, 2008
I had mentioned to a few people, myself included, that I needed an alcohol-detox-week. Or maybe two weeks? I started Tuesday July 1st, and it came to an abrupt end on Friday the 4th. I blame Friday night work drinks. Everyone’s having a wine, a chat and a wind down. How can one resist that?
I don’t have a problem with alcohol at all. I just enjoy a glass of wine when socialising. Prior to this bout of socialness, I had a glass of wine maybe one or twice a month. The reason for my detox was just a health thing. I don’t have health issues. I was just doing it purely for myself.
But tonight I’m out with the girls for dinner and some fun. So there will definitely be wine around. I’ll just try the detox again next week.
Sorted

Geez… all I had to do was get my ass into gear and talk to one of the contact people at my University to sort out what I need to do in order to finish this life-long degree. I feel so much better today. So relieved. A lovely admin girl for the accounting school helped me out. She’s told me the papers I need to complete in order to finish my bachelor’s degree. I have shuffled a couple of papers and made some changes. I have decided on getting this degree done, so I can start living, at this rate I’ll be 30 before I finish. But changes have been made, this means that to become a Chartered Accountant, I will need to sit two more papers when I get back from my travels. This is no biggy to me. I can do them part-time while working. The shuffle out of these two papers means I can finish my degree by June 2009*, instead of what was looking like an extra year or year and a half of study, if I work my ass off.
So now I am excited again. It means that I’m going to need to put 150% effort into my Uni work this semester and semester one next year, but it’s all worth it to be completed!
I’m looking forward to dinner out with the girls tonight. We always have fun and laughs when out. It will be some nice light relief after my tummy bug, stressful Uni shite, and this week of work (worked 6 days this week!!)
My family has some house news. Ie. a new one. But I’m not allowed to discuss or post photos (because it’s beautiful) until it’s gone unconditional. So watch this space.
*However there is talk of one paper only being available in semester 2 in 2009, which would mean I couldn’t finish in June. Boo.
Just one of those days
July 2nd, 2008
Had some terribly bad news today. I failed one of my papers at Uni. I’m truly, completely devastated. I can’t believe it! It’s not just the devastation of failing a paper, which is huge enough, it’s also the devastation that it could delay my trip to the UK. I haven’t figured it out completely yet, but it may delay my trip by six months. Fuck. I can’t even explain the frustration and anger inside me right now. Lets just say it’s bigger than the plane I was planning to escape to the UK in.
I made an appointment to see my lecturer as soon as I saw the result. He saw me this afternoon, he was lovely. But no matter how lovely I was and how nicely I smiled he couldn’t pass me there on the spot. So I have re-enrolled for the paper to do it again this semester coming. There’s nothing else I can do about it, so I guess there’s no point going on about it. Just time to get on with life.
The day improved when I remembered I had a hair appointment at 5.30pm. I love getting my hair coloured (highlights) and cut. It’s my luxury.
I got home to find my sister had cooked dinner and saved me some. So here I am, on the couch with a glass of diet coke, a bowl of spag bog, in my jammies, with my hair looking fabulous and ready for a night out. Unfortunately I’m exhausted, I’ll admit this working full time stuff is damn hard work. I’ll have to do it one day. But while I’m a student, albeit a failing one (only one out of four papers!!!), I shall work very minimal hours, except during these three week “holiday” periods.
A trip to look forward to
July 1st, 2008
I don’t know if I’ve previously mentioned but my sister, Allie, is a sales woman for a large distribution company who specialises in cameras, watches, jewelry and some other electronics. So she travels quite a bit around the North Island to visit her customers. So when she heads off to Tauranga, Whakatane and Mt Maunganui in two weeks time (the 16th) I’m going to join her for a mini road trip! I thought why the hell not? It’ll be the first week back at Uni so there are minimal classes, so I’ll get away with a mini trip.
I’m very excited, we’ll have lots of fun together! She’s booking a place with a spa… yay! And we can go out for dinner and have general relax time. Well she’ll have to do a bit of work during the day, but after that we can relax together. It’ll only be three days/two nights. But it’s something to look forward to!
Bliss
June 29th, 2008
I bought my new toy. So here I am posting my entry on Sunday morning, it’s cold and pouring with rain out, but I’m cozy on the couch with a coffee, honey toast, watching The OC and enjoying my first relaxing moment of the weekend.
Gloria’s birthday party was absolutely gorgeous! I forgot my camera, which is so unlike me. So will have to ask Jo to send me some photos. Zarrin & Kim had other good news, they’re expecting their second child. I’m so happy for them! I knew the next one wouldn’t be far away.
I don’t know how Zarrin does it, I wouldn’t have a clue what to do with a baby right now, so not ready!
Enough of the bliss time, I have to get dressed so my sister, mum and I can go look at a few houses for mum to buy. Then Allie’s taking me shopping for my belated birthday present. Shopping is always good.
TGIF
June 27th, 2008
This has been the longest week. I don’t know if it’s because of what happened on the weekend or if it’s because I’ve worked 9 hours per day Monday through Friday. A combination of the two I’m guessing.
I have plans tonight to go be social with some friends. So I’m looking forward to that. It wont be a wild night, just a catch up, some laughs and of course a lovely glass of wine.
Last night I went shopping with my mum in the mall. We had Japanese for dinner (so yum!) then hit the shops. Coming home with lots of things I didn’t (well kind of did) need, including; pyjamas, underwear and a handbag. Truly the best way to spend a Thursday evening; late night shopping!
Looking forward to the weekend, I have my friend’s daughter’s first birthday party on Saturday. It’ll be cute! I haven’t been to a first birthday party as an adult. So tomorrow will be a first. I’ve heard it’s basically a congratulations party for the parents for making it through a year!
Then after the party I’m off to dinner with friends (who will also be at the first birthday party). These are friends I haven’t seen in a couple of months (all busy and super slack), so it’ll be lovely to see them.
Then Sunday I can hopefully relax. And probably have to clean and do washing. Oh the excitement.
OOOH and maybe even play with my new toy I will probably buy this weekend. An Apple Mac laptop. I knew I wanted a laptop to take to England (when I finally get there) and now my brother-in-law (a keen Mac fan) has convinced me to buy a Mac instead of a PC. They’re having a 17 month interest free period at his work, which Apple don’t normally do. So this is the time to buy. Also means I could have it paid off before Christmas, hence no interest and I wouldn’t have to save lots just before leaving NZ to buy one. So hopefully that all works out and I get myself a new toy.
Girly night

Sex and they City was absolutely fantastic!! I loved every minute. The shoes, clothes, laughs, loves and of course the sex. There was sex every 10 minutes, so to all the guys who think it’s a chick-flick, there’s something in it for you! haha.
I enjoyed the movie so much I would see it again. I told this to my friend at work, Jen, so she asked me to go with her! Yay! Round two next week.
We went for a cocktail first and the bartender convinced us to try his personally created cocktail. I have no idea what it was called, but it contained; 42 Below vodka, whiskey, some other alcohol (that I don’t think he told us the name of), plums (had been soaked in the vodka for months), honey, vanilla and topped with chocolate shavings. Oh. My. God. Heaven! But a lot of alcohol…
My liver (and the rest of my body) will be hating me right now. I’m not normally an alcohol drinker, but lately every event I attend always seems to have alcohol! Since last Thursday I have had at least one glass of alcohol everyday except Monday. Not good for the weight! Time to stop. Oh, except for Friday night, going out with some friends then… hehe. Shh!
Cocktails & chick-flicks

I’m finally counting down the hours until I see the Sex and the City movie! Yes, I must be the only 20-something girl in the world (except my sister and friend) who has not seen it yet!
My sisters and my friend Toni are off to see it tomorrow night, starting with a cocktail at a bar next to the cinema… to get us in the mood! It’ll be great to relax and have some girlie time.
You have found Bronnie's personal blog. She's a 24 year old from New Zealand. Her idea of heaven can include; getting her nails painted, her hair highlighted, reading a good book, being out with friends, watching movies, snapping photos, cooking and enjoying a wine or cocktail.
She's currently in her last year of her accounting degree then she's off to the UK in June 2009 to work, play & have an adventure!
